  • YOGA | Colégio MAAP

YOGA What is Yoga? If you think yoga is just twisting and moving your body in a weird way, it's time to rethink. Yoga is much more than postures. Derived from the Sanskrit word "yuj", which means "to unite or integrate", yoga is a body of knowledge over 5,000 years old. Yoga is harmonizing the body with the mind and breath, through breathing techniques (pranayamas), yoga postures (asanas) and meditation. See the video on the side to learn more about what yoga is. Yoga for Everyone Yoga is a way of life and if we stop to think about it, we have been practicing it since we were babies! For example, doing the cat stretch to stretch the spine. You always see kids doing some kind of yoga during the day. Yoga works for everyone: people who work in an office, people who practice sports, people looking to lose weight, with an intense or quiet routine in their daily lives who can have a better quality of life with the practice. Breathing Techniques (Pranayama) and Meditation Pranayama is the art of effectively controlling the breath. Practicing proper breathing techniques can help bring more oxygen to the blood and brain, thus helping to control prana, or vital energy. Pranayama also follows along with various yoga asanas. The union between these two yoga principles is considered the highest form of purification and self-discipline, covering both mind and body. Prayanamas techniques also prepare us for a deeper meditation experience. COURSES AND SERVICES

HORTICULTURE A growing number of educators have reflected and often sought to fulfill the important role of developing children's commitment to caring for the school environment: caring for the external and internal space of the classroom or school, caring for human relationships that reflect respect and affection with oneself same, with the other and with the world. Reflecting on the environment around us and rethinking the responsibilities and attitudes of each one of us generate rich, contextualized educational processes that are significant for each of the groups involved. In this context, the cultivation of school gardens can be a valuable educational tool. The contact with the earth in the preparation of flowerbeds and the discovery of countless forms of life that exist and coexist there, the enchantment with the seeds that sprout like magic, the daily practice of care – watering, transplanting, removing weeds, scaring away ants is a exercise of patience and perseverance until nature toasts us with the transformation of small seeds into lush and colorful vegetables. School gardens are instruments that, depending on the direction given by the educator, can address different curricular contents in a meaningful and contextualized way and promote experiences that rescue values. Values so well translated in the book Boniteza de um Sonho, by professor Moacir Gadotti: “A small garden, a vegetable garden, a piece of land, is a microcosm of the entire natural world. In it we find life forms, life resources, life processes. From it we can reconceptualize our school curriculum. By building and cultivating it, we can learn many things. Children see it as the source of so many mysteries! He teaches us the values of emotionality with the Earth: life, death, survival, the values of patience, perseverance, creativity, adaptation, transformation, renewal”. COURSES AND SERVICES

  • SALA MAKER | Colégio MAAP

MAAP College Maker Room Learning by doing or doing and learning... the basic principle of maker culture is the freedom to create and the focus on solving problems in the most diverse situations created by the teacher during the class, always keeping the student as the protagonist. Check out the 4 last projects developed... 01 Ecological Vase The ecological vases were designed and developed by Sala Maker with a focus on sustainability and thinking about the well-being of our beloved Planet Earth. The creation of the vases was an initiative of the "Mother's Day" event and each student presented a gift your mother with this work of art. 02 Talent & Business Network The Talent Festival that takes place in September is the opportunity for students to show what they have produced and, through entrepreneurship, sell these items in search of financial funds to invest in material and equipment for their own maker room. Furthermore, together with this event, it opened doors for us to start polishing the project: "Eu Desenvolvo e Evoluo Com Meu Filho" where the parents of the students will bring to the maker culture already practiced at MAAP a little of their personal professional experiences and with that the idea is to create a business network between parents. 03 Carbon Credits (CarbonCoin) All projects that are carried out that have the principle of making the world healthier and more sustainable and that in fact achieve this feat of reducing or sequestering the carbon emitted generate carbon credits and based on each detail and each project completed or in progress counts to our Carbon Credits counter returned by our team of programmers.Know more... 04 Horticulture & Cooking When Sala Maker gets involved in a project such as horticulture, imagination takes over and the result is always beyond expectations. Sala Maker started a project whose slogan is the phrase: From land to plate. Where students will do everything from preparing the soil to creating recipes in the cooking class using what they planted. Furthermore, the Horticulture space at MAAP opens up paths for capturing sustainable energy and developing the Carbon Credits project.

EcoMaap - Carbon Credit Colégio MAAP is proud to present its carbon credit counter, an initiative that aims to value and encourage the ecological projects developed by our students in the Maker Room. Carbon credits represent the amount of greenhouse gases (GHG) that our projects avoid emitting or capturing from the atmosphere, contributing to the mitigation of climate change. Through our website, you can purchase carbon credits generated by our projects and offset your own GHG emissions, thus supporting our students to continue creating sustainable solutions for the world. Our projects do not have official certification due to their complexity, but they are based on scientific studies and follow strict quality and transparency criteria. • CUISINE | Colégio MAAP

CUISINE One of the most effective ways to diversify and encourage the development of children in the pedagogical process is through activities that go beyond the traditional teaching pattern. Even as beginners, it is impossible not to be enchanted by the aroma of spices, the color of vegetables and the magic of helping to prepare food. But the benefits go beyond the good smell and keen appetite. Classes become a tool for improving social skills, socializing and learning other subjects. For example, weighing ingredients can help with math and observing the changes in food textures when an ingredient is placed reinforces chemistry concepts. New words also enter the vocabulary, in addition to contact with other cultures and food origins. In cooking classes, children can exercise teamwork, the ability to organize and follow guidelines, patience, in addition to becoming aware of garbage, waste, care and respect for nature. BENEFITS: Cooking classes are already part of the curriculum of some schools, such as Colégio MAAP and MAAP Baby . The activity takes place weekly and is aimed at students between 2 and 10 years old. “When we leave the classroom and take students to different environments, such as the kitchen, it is possible to learn new content and develop skills more easily,” said the school's principal, Maria Ap André Perez. By reading the recipe, calculating, measuring and mixing the ingredients, students reinforce the concepts of other subjects, such as: mathematics, Portuguese, history and science. During classes, students also develop motor skills. “Even younger children who are not yet literate gain with improved motor coordination. Older children, on the other hand, work on strength and coordination movements, which allow them to perform more complex tasks in their daily lives. In general, both younger and older children are delighted with the transformations made in the classes" he says Children should, from an early age, be encouraged to embrace the world of food without neurosis, without charge and without the encouragement of fast food and nothing nutritious, fast food. Learning that food should be your ally is essential for children. Many have difficulties in consuming different and unknown foods, simply due to the lack of contact with the food world and without having any kind of reference in this regard. This contact can start at home, at school, and go on to the rest of the world. COURSES AND SERVICES

  • CAPOEIRA | Colégio MAAP

CAPOEIRA Capoeira is a Brazilian cultural expression that mixes martial arts, sports, popular culture and music. Developed in Brazil mainly by descendants of African slaves with some indigenous influence, it is characterized by agile and complex blows and movements, primarily using kicks and sweeps, as well as head butts, knees, elbows, ground or aerial acrobatics. A feature that distinguishes Capoeira from most other martial arts is its musicality. Practitioners of this Brazilian martial art learn not only to fight and play, but also to play the typical instruments and to sing. An experienced capoeirista who ignores musicality is considered incomplete. The word capoeira comes from the Tupi-Guarani, it refers to the undergrowth areas of the interior of Brazil. It was suggested that capoeira got its name from the places that surrounded the large rural properties with a slave base. Capoeiristas, fugitives from slavery and unaware of the environment around them, often used the undergrowth to hide from the persecution of the capitães-do-mato. COURSES AND SERVICES
